Because She Is, a non-profit volunteer organization that provides free support services for survivors of physical, emotional, and sexual assault and abuse, will be hosting two clinician-led workshops in September and October.

Both workshops will be conducted by Geraldine “Gerry” Viggiani, LCSW, LCADC, PMH-C. She is a psychotherapist and owner of Lotus Blossom Psychotherapy, LLC in Eatontown, NJ, specializing in trauma, addiction, and perinatal mood disorders and birth trauma.

On Friday, September 20, 2019, the workshop topic will be Trauma and Shame…How It Impacts Our Life. Participants will be guided in looking at how the emotion of shame impacts our lives in the wake of trauma.

On Friday, October 11, 2019, the workshop topic will be The Effects of Trauma: How our Decisions and Reactions are Rooted in our Trauma.

Both workshops will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Marilyn’s Place, the home for Because She Is, in South Amboy, NJ. The confidential location is conveniently and easily accessible for attendees from throughout central New Jersey.

Workshops are free of charge and light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited; please email info@becausesheis.org to reserve your spot and for additional details.

Yoga Workshops with Pattijean mcternan

For Every Level of Experience

Our mind might say, “You can’t do that, you have to do this ”, or it might say “You shouldn’t…”, or “You’re too old or too young”, or “You’re not good enough.”

Yoga teaches us to quiet the mind through breath, asana, meditation, studying, and so much more. I hope to inspire others the way my excellent teachers have done so for me. I learned how to push myself while also finding the softness and the pleasure in every practice.

It isn’t at all about reaching that perfect pose or what someone else is doing in class.

It’s about being open, present, connecting, and learning.

You will feel comfortable in class, you will be able to take what you do on the mat with you when you leave, and you will learn and explore.

I followed my passion and hope to help you open the doors that will bring health, balance, and contentment.

Sometimes it’s okay not to know the reason why you need something; you just need it in your life.

I didn’t know why, but I needed Yoga, and I love to share it. I look forward to meeting you on your mat exactly where you are in your journey.

I have my Bachelor Degree in Psychology, a K-8 Teacher Certification, and a Masters Degree in Education.  I've studied with amazing teachers including Chanel Luck, Allison Chamberlain, Purvi Patel, and Julian Yun from Boston.  I continue to be inspired by two dedicated talented teachers here in New Jersey, Janet Gallo and April Puciata.  I have a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification and Meditation Teacher Certification. I followed my passion and hope to help you open the doors that will bring health, balance, and contentment.

Process Painting Women's Group

with Elissa Arbeitman, MA, ATR-BC

Are you?
* Exhausted by the constant demand to take care of others
* Always feeling pressure to produce, perform and succeed
* Too overwhelmed to take care of yourself
* Disconnected or shut down from your creative self

Join us and give yourself the opportunity to rediscover your creative self alongside other women without pressure to perform, produce or succeed.

Wild and Free Painting is an indulgent and nourishing Process Painting Art Studio for self-care, personal growth and exploration where we release stress, quiet our minds and reconnect to our true selves. We focus on the act of painting itself and your experience while painting rather than the final art product. We celebrate your creativity in all of its authentic form and return to the idea that creative expression can serve as a tool to heal, connect, uncover, reclaim and discover. Experiencing this process helps women feel a deeper connection within themselves and in turn feel more satisfied and connected in all of their relationships.

~ Absolutely no prior art experience is necessary to enjoy the benefits of this process. All materials and tools will always be provided.

Elissa earned a BFA in Graphic Design from The University of Michigan, holds a Masters degree in Art Therapy from New York University (MA) and is a Registered, Board-Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) by the Art Therapy Credentials Board. In 2007 she opened Higher Art where she specialized in helping children, teenage girls, women and parents develop coping strategies for better social, emotional, and behavioral development. In 2018 she opened Wild and Free Painting and now facilitates self-care, personal growth and exploration workshops through Process Painting while offering individual Art Therapy sessions for children, teen girls and adult women.
